Case assessment
Start with the federal tax reason, SSN eligibility and whether a tax return or IRS exception applies.
Independent support for applicants who need to understand and prepare the U.S. ITIN application process, with an emphasis on accurate Form W-7 information, document requirements and clear next steps.
This site is organized around the questions people ask when they already know they need an ITIN and are comparing the CAA route: document authentication, interview requirements, overseas applications, Form W-7 accuracy and what happens after submission.
ITIN CAA Service is an independent service website. We are not the IRS, and only the IRS can issue an ITIN. Our role is to help applicants organize the facts of the case, understand Form W-7 requirements and identify the submission route that fits the documents.
Start with the federal tax reason, SSN eligibility and whether a tax return or IRS exception applies.
Identify the identity, foreign-status and any dependent residency documents that need to be prepared.
Explain document-authentication limits, interview rules and what to expect if the CAA route is used.
Help applicants understand the additional document and timing considerations that can apply when filing from abroad.
We ask applicants to begin with a short case summary instead of sending a passport scan, full tax return, bank statement or complete taxpayer identification number immediately. Sensitive documents should be requested only when they are actually needed for the service.
For official rules, forms and deadlines, we refer applicants to current IRS sources. Where the IRS updates a rule, the current IRS guidance controls.
Send a short case summary and we can identify which part of the ITIN process needs attention first.
